Faith Stories

A Friend of His

Fr. Matthew and St. Isidore youth traveled to Rome last summer to immerse themselves in holy places, become friends with the saints, and grow deeper in faith alongside a million young Catholics from around the world.

When I think back on the St. Isidore Youth Pilgrimage to Rome, there is something that stood out to me more than anything else — Adoration. At Tor Vergata, where we slept overnight in the field with one million young Catholics from around the world, the Blessed Sacrament was presented in the beautiful Monstrance, with music, during a vigil with the Holy Father.

I felt God present. I felt God in a way I had never felt in my life. There I truly realized that God is real and I am a friend of His.

There were a lot of things I loved about Rome, but that was truly the most significant and meaningful experience I had.

I felt God present. I felt God in a way I had never felt in my life.
