A Faith Rediscovered

I was baptized Catholic and brought up in a household that had lost its connection to the Church. My parents grew up in Austria, where the Catholic faith was deeply woven into their lives. However, after immigrating to Canada, they found the language barrier a struggle, and over time, their relationship with the Church changed. We did not attend Mass but instead found our connection with God in nature — on weekends spent skiing, hiking, and appreciating the beauty of creation.

A Growing Curiosity

As an adult, while raising our boys in the Catholic faith, I began to feel a growing curiosity and a draw for deeper knowledge of my faith. That longing led me to seek a renewed relationship with God through the OCIA (Order of Christian Initiation of Adults) program.

Participating in OCIA at St. Isidore has been a truly meaningful experience. Even though I joined later than most, I immediately felt welcomed and part of a supportive community. The retreat was a highlight — it helped me begin to understand what my relationship with God could be and how it continues to evolve each day.

Grounded in Faith

This journey has grounded me and deepened my appreciation for the support of my family, especially sharing in faith with my husband as we attend church together. I feel that God called me to begin this journey now, at a time when I was ready to seek a more intentional and genuine relationship with Him. I still find quieting my mind to listen to God's voice to be a challenge, but I'm learning to make that space in my daily life and trust the process.

Looking Ahead

Looking ahead, I believe God is calling me to keep asking questions and continue exploring my faith more deeply. I hope to stay connected to the St. Isidore community through gatherings and perhaps join a Bible study to keep learning and growing. I'm deeply grateful for the warmth, guidance, and love I've received throughout this journey — it has truly strengthened my faith and sense of belonging.

I would encourage anyone who feels even a small pull or curiosity to reach out and inquire about OCIA. It's a journey that opens your heart in ways you never expect.
