A Taste of Heaven on Earth

Fr. Matthew and the St. Isidore Youth Delegate team represented our parish at the National Eucharistic Congress in Indianapolis. In this newsletter series, our youth share reflections on their encounter with Christ in the Eucharist.

I am glad that I went to the Eucharistic Congress because that week was the best experience of my life. It was a taste of heaven on earth. When God led me to the Congress, I believe He chose me to be there for a specific reason. He wanted me to hear something and change something in my life.

During the talks, I heard a lot of great points but there were a few things that I felt in my heart God wanted me to especially hear. The speaker said we should open up and say yes to God’s will for us, no matter how scary it is. Giving your life completely to God can be scary because His will could be something that we really don’t want to do.

Later that night, Adoration started. The monstrance that was holding Jesus started slowly coming into the stadium. Everyone kneeled down for God. During this time, I thought back to the talk I had heard earlier that day. It was about opening up to what God had planned for me in my life, about saying yes to His will, remembering that I opened up for Jesus and His plan to take me to the Congress. I knew that His will was best.

I went deeper into prayer and said yes to Jesus. Yes to anything He wants to do in my life and however He wants to use me to help other people.

I thank Jesus for this opportunity to work in my life and I thank Him for giving me the strength to say yes. And I am excited to see what He has planned for our lives.

I went deeper into prayer and said yes to Jesus. Yes to anything He wants to do in my life.
